What we Stand For

Fieldstone Architecture grew naturally from our roots as NDM Architects. After over a decade shaping spaces across Devon, Dorset and Somerset, we felt our brand should speak the same language as our buildings, better reflecting the work we do. Fieldstone as a material is strong, natural and beautiful, and has shaped many of our successful projects.

We specialise in high-end rural and coastal homes, both contemporary and traditional, that offer exceptional comfort, performance and aesthetic quality. Whether a cliff-top new-build or a hidden rural retreat, every project is tailored to its unique situation. Our team also relish unlocking the potential of listed structures, weaving new life into historic fabric while protecting its heritage.

Clients choose us for our people as much as our buildings. We are a close-knit studio of designers who collaborate openly, think rigorously and stay by your side from concept to completion.

Delivering Exceptional Design Since 2012.

What sets us apart is our unique office setup, where we share space with planning consultants, land surveyors, and building contractors. The collaborative nature of our office not only streamlines the design process but also encourages cross-disciplinary knowledge sharing and innovation. Our clients benefit from the seamless industry collaboration, resulting in bespoke and sustainable architectural solutions.

    ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER

George studied Architecture at the University of the West of England, Bristol, completing both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. With nearly five years’ experience, he has worked on a wide range of projects, from listed buildings to bespoke new homes and commercial developments. Passionate about conservation, George particularly enjoys remodelling historic buildings. His design-led approach emphasises sustainability, with a strong preference for eco-friendly materials and timber construction. • James Harris

    SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL TECHNICIAN

James completed his HNC in 2010 and began his architectural career at a small Exeter-based practice, focusing primarily on domestic extensions and internal remodelling. He joined the team in 2019 and has since worked on a diverse range of projects, including barn conversions, bespoke new build homes, and complex commercial schemes. James has extensive experience at delivering construction projects across all work stages. James’ exceptional technical skills allow him to produce precise and thorough working drawings and detailed specifications. Outside of work, James enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two children, relaxing with a good film, and pending time in the garden (whenever the weather allows).

  • Elizabeth Taylor

    MCIAT

    CHARTERED ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST

Elizabeth became a Chartered Member of the CIAT in 2004, following a successful apprenticeship and professional portfolio. She has worked across South Wales on a variety of projects, including listed buildings, barn conversions, and housing developments. In 2010, she established her own practice, later relocating to the South West, and won an LABC Award in 2011 for a barn conversion in the Gower AONB. She provides essential daily support across the practice, ensuring a high level of administrative efficiency. In addition to managing business systems and internal processes, Vicky oversees the accounts- issuing invoices and keeping a close eye on finances. Her organisational skills help keep everything running smoothly. Outside the office, Vicky enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, often exploring the local countryside. In winter, she swaps country walks for snowy slopes, heading to the mountains for some well-earned skiing adventures.
